As a part of a large academic center, our faculty have extensive teaching experience with medical students from OUWB (Oakland university William Beaumont) school of medicine, various residents, and pulmonary critical care fellows. Current faculty compliment consists of 5 physicians, 3 nurse practitioners and 1 respiratory therapist along with trained clinical staff. The mission of our fellowship program is to educate and prepare future sleep physicians to provide extraordinary and compassionate care in the world of sleep medicine driven by clinical excellence and research.
Fellows will be exposed to diverse and complex sleep disorders during training. We also have a 16-bed sleep laboratory (lab)- one of the largest in the state of Michigan. This program (sleep lab and clinics) serves the population of southeast Michigan with various sleep disorders for over 2 decades. Despite of expansion, the volume remains constant which speaks for need in the community as well as quality of care provided to patients.
Fellows will have ample supervision by faculty with goal to make them ready for independent practice and prepare them for a leadership role in sleep medicine practices. Fellows will also have opportunities to do clinical research if desired. Fellow will not have on-call or weekend duties.
