Research
Each fellow is expected to develop a research project that would be suitable for presentation of findings at a national meeting such as provided by the Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology (ARVO) or the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and eventual publication. Fellows are also required to submit an abstract to the Beaumont Resident/Fellow Research Forum.
All fellows are required to attend a weekly research meeting. The agenda for the weekly research meeting includes review of ongoing clinical research products, ongoing basic science projects, and review of the literature germane to clinical practice.
Fellows have ample opportunity to be involved in clinical research, including but not limited to retrospective chart reviews, consecutive case series and case reports. Mentorship in clinical research is provided by attending staff.
