Fellows will also be encouraged to design at least one clinical research project during their fellowship year. Topics will be selected using our breast cancer registry which has accrued over 10,000 patients since its inception in 2007.
At the completion of the training program, the fellow will understand clinical trial design, development, and statistical analysis. The fellow will gain first-hand experienced with patient recruitment into national clinical trials, including assessing eligibility and enrollment of patients, as well as becoming proficient with critically reviewing clinical research studies. This latter will be achieved by supplementing the fellow’s clinical experience with participation in the monthly Protocol Review Committee meetings where ongoing protocols are reviewed and ideas for initiating new clinical trials are discussed.
