Since 1976, the Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital has provided broad, clinical training at one of the nation’s premier hospitals. Corewell Health is Michigan’s largest healthcare system and the exclusive teaching site of the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. Beaumont has a strong academic reputation with over 100 residency and fellowship training programs. The Royal Oak campus is the largest of the 8 hospitals on Michigan's east side, with 1100 beds and over 129,000 emergency room visits per year. The colon and rectal surgery fellow is assigned to the colorectal surgery service for the academic year. The fellow’s training is conducted entirely at the Royal Oak campus without the need for travel to other facilities or institutions. Other members of the CRS service include a senior and junior general surgery resident, a surgery intern, a full-time nurse practitioner, ERAS nurse navigator, and cancer care coordinator.
