During the twelve-month Cytopathology fellowship, the fellow is highly encouraged to participate in a research project, which should lead to a poster or platform presentation at the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Cytopathology and/or publication in a refereed journal (Acta Cytologica, Diagnostic Cytopathology, or The American Journals Clinical Pathology). Ancillary techniques such as immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, and molecular pathology are available for such purposes.
After 6 months of training, the fellow is given one day per week to work on the research project.
