Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship, Royal Oak

Corewell Health Children’s is a 130-bed tertiary Pediatric facility within the larger 1100 bed Beaumont Hospital at Royal Oak in Michigan. The facility derives its Pediatric patients from across the state of Michigan and especially from the densely populated urban and suburban communities of Southeast Michigan. There is a Pediatric ER at this facility that sees 27,000 visits per year and patients are admitted for higher level of care from the surrounding ERs, hospital floors and Pediatric offices. The Pediatric floor covered has 70 beds. The Pediatric services include a full complement of Pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties. The Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) division has 14 attending faculty (6 board certified and an additional 2 with board eligibility for 2024 exams) with superlative hospital medicine experience ranging from 4 to 22 years. The service provides clinical care to all hospitalized Pediatric medical patients and consult and co-management services to the surgical patients. The PHM service at Beaumont Royal Oak is the primary service for all Pediatric medical patients and an average daily census of 30 Pediatric patients and 30 normal newborns and cares of 90 percent of inpatient admissions to Beaumont Childrens’. The range of clinical diagnosis and experiences includes the full spectrum of acute childhood illnesses, surgical co-management and consultations on Neurosurgical, ENT, Orthopedic, Ophthalmology, Urology patients and complex chronic illnesses across all Pediatric specialties.
