Research is an important component of the fellowship. At least one research project from each fellow must be submitted to the annual Resident/Fellow Research Day. Submission of at least one abstract (electronic exhibit, poster or oral presentation) at a national meeting is encouraged; additional projects are also encouraged. Fellows will be mentored by MSK faculty.
Specific research areas available for participation include musculoskeletal MR imaging and MR arthrography, musculoskeletal sonography, and musculoskeletal CT. Collaboration with clinical colleagues in Orthopaedic Surgery is available as well. Financial support from the Department of Radiology is provided for conference attendance when the fellow is presenting research as a first author. There also is funding for the fellow to attend one educational meeting during their fellowship.
