Mission
The Internal Medicine Residency at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital is provided for physicians who desire a career in general internal medicine or one of its subspecialties. The goal of our program is to provide a structured educational environment for the
training of internists, and in doing so, provide each trainee with an experience of such high quality that he/she has the option of pursuing a successful career in primary care general internal medicine, hospitalist medicine, medical education, or
an internal medicine subspecialty. To accomplish this goal, we offer residents a broad array of clinical and didactic experiences designed to refine the clinical and intellectual skills needed by a modern internist. Utilizing the resources of a large,
successful hospital that serves a population that is culturally and socio-economically diverse and that functions as both a major primary care provider and a tertiary care referral center, our residents participate as active learners in the inpatient,
critical care, and ambulatory venues of the hospital. We augment these clinical experiences with carefully designed, individualized didactic curricula that are tailored to the unique training needs of prospective primary care internists and future
medical subspecialists. By learning under the supervision and mentorship of committed faculty, a resident in our program develops the ability to think and act independently with the compassion and skill of a knowledgeable, evidence-based clinician.
