Corewell Health is the new name for Beaumont.

Neurology Residency, Farmington Hills & Royal Oak

The Neurology Residency program is a shared four-year program between Beaumont,  Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital and Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital. The program is designed to provide a comprehensive clinical and didactic atmosphere so the neurology resident can acquire all the necessary skills to go into a successful clinical practice of neurology. Staff are committed to delivering the highest quality of neurological care, including diagnosis and treatment, to the community, patients and referring physicians we serve.

The neurology resident is an integral part of the team approach to health care in order to attain our professed goals.

Working together, teaching, communicating and sharing new information, the attending and resident neurology staff at Farmington Hills; Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital; and the Michigan Institute for Neurologic Disorders (MIND), uphold the long-standing tradition that has kept neurology a busy, vital, active and essential service, even as the face of medicine has changed through the years.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to train Neurology Residents to provide compassionate, extraordinary care to a diverse population in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. The Beaumont Health Neurology Residency Program is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience that prepares physicians to meet the demands of contemporary neurology practice in urban and suburban community hospital and office settings. Residents learn to provide patient and family-centered care, contributing to the health and well-being of patients throughout the community. We attempt to retain our graduates to continue to serve our community.

Aims

  • To prepare physicians for the practice of neurology by teaching the skills, knowledge and humanistic qualities that constitute the foundations of neurology practice.
  • To responsibly diagnose, treat, manage and provide education to patients related to problems of high prevalence in the communities we serve, including stroke, epilepsy, dementia, headache conditions, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular disorders, pediatric neurology and movement disorders.
  • To provide progressive responsibility for and experience to enable effective management of clinical problems in the inpatient hospital setting and the outpatient clinic setting.
  • To prepare graduates who are capable of autonomously practicing neurology, providing patient- and family-centered care.
  • To promote lifelong learning of new skills and knowledge by teaching how to assess and interpret medical evidence in the literature, and apply it to a single patient or population during their careers.
  • To develop physicians who monitor their own physical and mental well-being.
