Mission

Our mission is to train Obstetrics and Gynecology Residents to provide exceptional, compassionate care to all women in our diverse suburban community. The Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at Beaumont Hospital, Trenton is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience that prepares physicians to meet the demands of contemporary obstetrics and gynecology practice. Residents learn how to provide patient- and family-centered care, contributing to the health and well-being of women throughout the community. We aim to retain our graduates to continue to serve the women in our community.

Aims

  • To prepare physicians for the practice of obstetrics and gynecology, by teaching the skills, knowledge and humanistic qualities including of medical and surgical care of the female reproductive system across the life span and health conditions, preparing them to serve as primary care physicians for women.
  • To provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate and effective for the treatment of women’s health problems and the promotion of health and disease prevention.
  • To address the needs of the community in responsibility treating and providing education to patients related to problems of high prevalence in the community.
  • To provide for progressive responsibility for and experience to enable effective management of clinical problems and stages of disease.
  • To prepare graduates who are capable of autonomously practicing obstetrics and gynecology, providing patient and family-centered care, and incorporating new skills and knowledge during their careers.
  • To develop physicians able to monitor their own physical and mental well-being.

About

Beaumont Hospital, Trenton is a 193-bed acute care teaching hospital. The hospital opened its doors to Trenton and its surrounding communities in 1961. It became part of Beaumont Health in September 2014. In addition to providing comprehensive medical and surgical care for its patients, the hospital offers all private beds, a medical and surgical intensive care unit, a Level II trauma center, and newly renovated family birthing center.

The Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program has a resident complement of 8, accepting two residents per year. Physicians accepted into the program will follow the requirements of the ACGME and graduates will be certified by either ABOOG or ABOG. All residents attend weekly lectures, monthly conferences, as well as other various educational activities through Michigan State University Statewide Campus System.
