We are excited that you are considering the pediatric residency program at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital located in Royal Oak, MI, affiliated with Oakland University William Beaumont School of
Medicine (OUWB). We are a diverse program made up of residents from all over the world. We are a strong program nestled in a much larger hospital that has been consistently ranked #2 in Michigan. Beaumont Health is an 8-hospital system in Metro
Detroit and is the only Children’s Hospital within those 8 hospitals. That being said, our residency manages all complex pediatric cases within Beaumont Health's facilities.
Our subspecialty education is terrific! We have an incredible Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with over 50 beds, in a hospital system with more than 17,000 births every year. We also have an 8-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) with eight step-down
beds and a 70-bed pediatric ward. We have a full complement of pediatric subspecialties, including Nephrology, Neurology, Cardiology, Radiology, Infectious Disease, Urology, Otolaryngology, Pediatric Surgery, Child Advocacy and Protection (CAP), Adolescent
Medicine, Psychiatry, PM&R, Pediatric Hospice, Development, Pulmonology, Genetics, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, and Hematology/Oncology.
We also have two fellowship programs in Pediatric Hospital Medicine and Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) as we are a Level II Emergency Department in Pediatrics and Level I Emergency Department in Adult Medicine.
We have an incredible faculty who value the importance of teaching. There is faculty guidance and support for those interested in research and we offer an elective month dedicated to your research. We have one half-day each week dedicated to expanding
our education through lectures, board exam review, guided mock code simulations, procedure simulations in our state-of-the-art simulation lab, and our quality improvement and research curriculum.
Our program emphasizes the importance of resident wellness. We celebrate and recognize our residents with an annual Resident Appreciation week, Wellness Wednesday e-mails from our Program Director, and an annual Pediatric Resident Retreat. Our program
is committed to resident success during and after graduation. We are now offering PGY-3 residents the opportunity to do their continuity clinic in their desired subspecialty (i.e. private practice, Cardiology, Neurology, etc).
With high volume, complicated patients, and a diverse patient population, our residents are molded into excellent pediatricians by graduation. Thank you for considering our program, and welcome to the Pediatric community!
