Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Research
As a condition of graduation, all residents must complete an investigative project, which should lead to a poster or platform presentation at the Annual Meeting of the American Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and/or publication in a refereed journal. This work will be done with the assistance and advice of an attending physiatrist.
Every resident is expected to develop familiarity with the "research process." Basic research opportunities are available with supporting assistance from Ph.D.s in biophysics, anatomy, biochemistry, and engineering based at the Research Institute located on campus. An animal laboratory, instrument shop, photographer and medical illustrators are also immediately available on campus. Research is encouraged through financial support from the Research Institute.
