Corewell Health offers three Surgery residency programs providing diverse opportunities and training


Corewell Health Hospitals, Dearborn & Trenton

  • Trenton is a 193-bed acute care hospital providing comprehensive medical and surgical care to meet the needs of the growing downriver communities it serves; Dearborn is 632-bed teaching hospital with Primary Stroke Center Accreditation; both have Level II Trauma status
  • Trenton (formerly known as Oakwood Southshore Hospital) has 8 residency programs and is affiliated with the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Dearborn (formerly known as Oakwood Hospital) has 4 resident and 2 fellowship programs; it is affiliated with Wayne State University School of Medicine
  • Program accredited by the AOA; Initial ACGME Accreditation anticipated in 2018
  • 5 residents per year chosen through NMS as a Corewell Health, Southshore Campus, Trenton program

Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital

  • 330-bed hospital with Level II Trauma status
  • Major osteopathic teaching facility with 12 residency and 5 fellowship programs, including Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
  • Program accredited by the AOA since 1962 and the ACGME in 2016
  • Affiliated with the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine
  • 3 residents per year chosen through NMS as a Corewell Health, Botsford Campus, Farmington Hills, program

Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital

  • 1,100-bed hospital, with Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma status
  • Major academic medical center with 20 residency programs
  • 25 fellowship programs, including Breast Surgery, Colon & Rectal Surgery, Surgical Critical Care Surgery, and Vascular Surgery
  • Program accredited by the ACGME since 1960
  • Primary teaching site for the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine
  • 6 categorical and 2 undesignated preliminary residents per year chosen through NRMP as Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital
