Corewell Health has been teaching and training medical students for more than 55 years. Teaching and learning good medicine requires observation and practice. This is present in our dedicated faculty who are passionate about the learning process and committed to medical education. They are excellent role models to the students and on many occasions, have become lifetime mentors. Practice through repetition is essential in medical training.
Students from all four years of medical school participate in clinical skills activities at the OUWB Clinical Skills Center. The center is the primary site for learners to practice and perfect their patient skills in a realistic setting as instruction is conducted using standardized patients, persons trained to realistically simulate actual patients. Student interaction with standardized patients allows them to practice and test their interviewing and physical examination skills. The center has 15 simulated patient rooms, separate student and patient assembly areas, meeting areas, and separate video control and observation suites.
