Rotations

The Family Medicine Residency is able to utilize the resources of a large multi-hospital system while still providing a primarily unopposed experience for its residents.

  • residents do some rotations at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, such as
    • obstetrics
    • inpatient pediatrics
    • outpatient pediatrics
    • orthopedics
    • geriatrics
    • emergency medicine
      • the larger patient volumes and subspecialists provide an outstanding experience in these areas
  • remainder of the required rotations are done at Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe and include:
    • family medicine inpatient
    • emergency medicine
    • cardiology
    • general surgery
    • intensive care/pulmonology
    • multiple electives are available (example: gastroenterology, dermatology, endocrinology, rheumatology, infectious disease, hematology/oncology, neurology, podiatry, additional sports medicine, complementary and alternative medicine)

Many of our rotations have the residents working directly with the specialists who are dedicated to providing an excellent, individualized education. Being a part of a larger hospital system also provides access to electives, subspecialists, technologies, and research opportunities that may not be available in other settings.
